Last weekend was one of my favorite summer weekends in Pittsburgh: Pedal PGH! Every year, a bunch of awesome people get together to support BikePGH and ride around the city. There are four routes: 7 miles, 25 miles, 40 miles, and 62 miles
I set off on the 62-mile ride at 8 am, filled with the maximum amount of stoke. By 11 am, my friend Darrin and I were sitting at Urgent Care after a self-induced crash on 18th St. in the South Side. The damage: a broken wrist, a ton of bruises, and lots of road rash. Will I ride again? Of course. It's what I do.
This will likely be an abridged version of the newsletter since I'm still figuring out how to type quickly and accurately in a wrist brace.
That said, let's get at it.
Happy Friday, party people!

When you think of online shopping destinations, Twitter may not be the first place that comes to mind. However, with e-commerce sales continuing to rise, social platforms want in on the action.

Might be fun to test this when the book is available 🤔
TikTok’s new Creator Marketplace API lets influencer marketing companies tap into first-party data (from TechCrunch)
TikTok is making it easier for brands and agencies to work with the influencers using its service. Zoom Dysmorphia Is Following People Into the Real World (from Wired)
Eighteen months of using front-facing cameras has distorted our self-image — and a new study reveals that the effects aren't going away easily. I know I'm sick of looking at myself.
Incredible Images from Nature
It's been a year for all of us.
15 incredible wildlife photos that show nature's quiet, striking, and brutal moments (from Mashable)
Having been run for 57 years by the Natural History Museum in London, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition showcases exceptional nature photography from around the globe. This year's standouts include cheetahs crossing Kenya's raging Talek River, bioluminescent mushrooms in far north Queensland, and the fox above, searching in the shallows for salmon carcasses.
Photos: California’s Caldor Fire Threatens South Lake Tahoe (27 photos from The Atlantic)
I remember the first time I walked out of my apartment in Los Angeles to find my super sweet Dodge Neon covered in ash from a fire burning 35miles to the north in Santa Clarita. This was the first time I heard about a fire "jumping a highway."
Above, A chairlift at the Sierra-at-Tahoe ski resort sits idle as the Caldor Fire moves through the area on August 30, 2021. This is devastating on so many levels.
Oh, to Be a Cow Airlifted Through the Swiss Alps (from The Cut)
The first line of this article sold me, considering I'm a BIG FAN of the salmon cannon.
The time for salmon flying through a tube is over; it’s flying-cow season now.
In Klausenpass, Switzerland, cows find their way to lower pastures for autumn. However, some cattle are unable to make the journey because of age or injury. Or perhaps they have simply outsmarted their bovine brethren and realize they can be flown via helicopter down the mountain.
A Content Calendar Built in Notion
I have a bunch of plans for I need to create an actual, organized content calendar for my book release. Since I already live in Notion, I immediately went on the hunt for a template to adapt. Of course, one exists. They also put together a great overview article to accompany it.
Speaking of content, I have mentioned the second book, right?
Until next time,
