Who needs Netflix when you have user survey responses? - Anna Lawn
Anna was right. Reading through the results from our cyclist survey has been so much fun! It’s amazing how quickly words and phrases bubble to the top when talking to groups of people. For example, the responses to our open-ended questions included these three words over and over again, almost instantly.
Shoulder. Traffic. Narrow.
The feedback is invaluable. This is how the LaneSpotter Team (mostly Grant) is feeling post-survey.
Your turn! Send a survey, dance, and report back with results. I’ll be waiting…
The Seed-Stage Pitch Deck
Everyone has their thoughts on the seed-stage pitch deck. Since we’re in the middle of building ours, I figured I’d share mine.
I’m a fan of keeping these decks concise. Use them as a guide to tell a story. Leave lots of room for questions. The current LaneSpotter deck is 13 slides. Here’s the order:

Plant an Oak Tree, Damn It!
This is a Southern Live Oak Tree👇. I’ll never forget the first time I saw one in New Orleans. My mind was blown.
This memory came to me after reading Why You Should Plant an Oak Tree (New York Times)
Oak trees are rad. In my opinion, everyone should have an oak in their yard. Oak trees support more life-forms than any other tree in North America! Their acorns provide food for more than 100 species of wildlife! That’s efficiency 👏
Don’t have an oak in your yard? I suggest a Northern Red Oak. Plant, then sit back in awe as it grows as much as two feet a year for 10 years, maxing out at 60 to 75 feet tall in 20 years 🏒📈
Tech I Love: Grammarly
Before I sent the book in for editing, I ran the entire thing through Grammarly one last time. I've been using Grammarly on the regular for a year now, and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that I overuse the phrase "over the course of" A LOT. Trying to break that habit.
If you haven’t used Grammarly, check it aht. #pittsburghese #themoreyouknow
Smiling-Inducing Stuff
I’m feeling happy this week, which makes me nervous. I think it’s a founder thing. When we’re up, we know the next thing that’s coming is down🎢😵
Here are a few of the things that brought on the smiles 😄😊😃
The release of the new Among Us Airship map. This was the first time I saw my kid excited for a video game release. A-dorable. Also, the new map is super fun!
This Twitter thread where people share descriptions of their favorite neighborhood “character” 😹. Who knew that so many people practice whip cracking in public!
The song “Carol Brown” from Flight of the Conchords, a New Zealand comedy duo (and a band) that starred in the HBO TV show with the same name. The show aired between 2007 - 2009 and was/is very funny. Check out the reviews.
Would you like a little cereal?
Until next time,
